Shaped Card Tutorial

I hope you all had some fantastic holidays and are ready to start 2011 off with some creativity!
Creating a shaped card using your Nestablilities or other dies is pretty easy and fun!  I made the card above awhile ago, then thought perhaps you'd like to see how I came about making the shaped card.  You can google around to find directions for this, perhaps even a YouTube, but here's my simple method.

You start with a Nestablities die (or other, such as Stampin' Ups Top Note) and a folder card and another piece of cardstock to match the folded card.  You will then cut out the card using the die, being sure to have one edge not cut all the way through the fold on the cardstock, so that it stays together at the top. (see below)

Then cut out a single die cut  from your other piece of cardstock making sure you don't cut off any edges and then attach this to the top of your card giving it the look of a shaped card.

To make some "tea-dyed" ribbon simply spritz your lace with water and run a Distress Ink pad over it and then dry.

to make the curved greeting, just use unmounted stamps that you can easily curve or shape onto your acrylic block.  It works best if they don't have any mounting foam attached to them so they are more flexible.

For this card I added another die cut in the same shape only smaller, inked the edges and added a round die cut with a bird die cut then the dyed lace with additional fiber and vintage button.

Supplies:
stamps: Stampin' Up, Purple Onion Designs
Paper: Club Scrap
Punches: Stampin' Up
Dies: Nestabilities, Sizzix
Ink: Distress

What a great tutorial and card! I've been wanting to try this, but always wondered how you made the nice shape on the front. Very clever!

Great job on this and thanks for the tutorial. I guess I'll have to find a larger nestability to do this.
